    Educational Support Programme

    The POPLARS SCHOOL has donated very valuable clothing, books, toys and shoes for the poor children of CRC Children’s Club.

    Under this project the tsunami affected children in Pottuvil in Ampara District were granted school bags, exercise books, pens, pencils etc.

  • Community Based Integrated Project for Neglected Children

    This project specially was designed for the irregular & non school going children in Ampara DS division and carried out under major 3 sectors as Education, Protection and Livelihood support. Under this project a reading library was donated to CRC for the school children’s reference and catch up classes are being conducted for the non school going children. Psycosocial Counselling sessions were held for the children. Also under Livelihood support sector, poor parents of the said children of 57 families were given Cash Grants for identified Income Generation Activities.

  • Helping the Tsunami Affected Children in Ampara District

    The Tsunami Affected Children of the Karaitivu DS division was the main target of this project. The selected 2500 number of school children were provided with educational support and their parents were provided with medical treatments.

    A computer Training centre was opened at war affected Lahugala DS Division for the needy war affected children in the village. This is really an excellent opportunity to the marginalized, war affected, vulnerable and poverty stricken children in the village.

    Empowering Multi Ethnic communities to Re-Establish Peace

    Under this project peace building activities, art competitions, essay competitions and cultural development programmes were conducted. This project was designed for the Sinhalese, Tamil and Muslim war affected people in Uhana, Ampara and Karaitivu DS divisions. This project also was aimed at promoting mutual understanding among these 03 communities.

  • Livelihood & Infrastructure Development

    This project was designed for the war affected people in Lahugala DS division in Ampara district. Under this project 50 families were selected for Cattle farming and Poultry farming as an income generation activities. Also 3 safe drinking water wells and 50 latrines were constructed.

    Construction of small Road Bridge

    Under this project, a small bridge was constructed across a stream in a very remote war affected village called “Wanagamuva” in Akkaraipattu DS Division in Ampara District.

    Economic Emancipation of War Affected Women : Phase 1

    Under this project 50 women headed families were selected and widows of these families were given 50 good quality milk cows for their livelihood. This was an income generation project.

    Under this project 80 women headed families were selected and widows of these families were given 80 good quality milk cows for their livelihood. This was an income generation project.

  • Economic Emancipation of Tsunami Affected People

    This project was designed for the Sinhale,Tamil and Muslim Tsunami affected people in Ampara district. Under this project 10 Fishing Boats with required Fishing Nets,100 Push Bycycles with fish boxes, sets of scales ,knives were distributed among affected fishing community members. The affected people of two displaced IDP camps were provided milk foods and children were given educational support such as shoes,school uniforms,books tec..This project continued for 01 year’s period.

  • Economic Emancipation of Tsunami Affected Women

    Under this project Tsunami affected widows in Karaitivu DS Division in Ampara District were donated Fishing Boats with required fishing nets.

    Prevention of HIV/AIDS amongst Beach Boys & Commercial Sex Workers

    This project was designed for the beach boys in Arugambay Tourist area and a group of 30 youth and a group of 50 women were trained as TOT(Training of Trainers) on HIV/AIDS/STDs.

  • BCC activities to prevent HIV/AIDS amongst Garment Factory Workers

    Under this project, the target risk group was the Garment factory workers in Ampara District. 80 BCCs (Behavioural Change communicators) were trained and awareness sessions on HIV/AIDS/STDs were held for period of 1 year.

    Promoting Health & Sanitation of the Tsunami Affected People

    Under this project Mobile Medical Clinics were held & 500 families were given medicine. Pregnant women and children were given special medical treatments with the Specialist Doctors. Also psycosocial counseling sessions were held for the traumatized children. Water filters and storage water tanks were distributed amongst the tsunami affected pregnant mothers and other people.
